“San Diego County Session Ale started as the champion homebrew entry in the Stone March Madness Homebrew Competition. Local home brewer Kelsey McNair was rewarded with the opportunity to brew his beer on Stone’s 120-barrel system with Stone Head Brewer Mitch Steele. Kelsey chose Ballast Point Brewing Co.’s Colby Chandler, a brewer known for his mastery of hops, to join them in collaborating on this intensely aromatic, monumentally hopped session ale. Although it clocks in at an approachable 4.2% ABV, San Diego County Session Ale delivers enormous hop flavor and aroma on par with the biggest and hoppiest of Double IPAs, resulting from the prodigious use of pungent, resinous American hop varieties at every step of the brewing process (including an unprecedented 660 lbs. of dry-hops.) San Diego County Session Ale speaks to the camaraderie, creativity, and love for hops that characterizes San Diego County’s legendary brewers.”
